Ingredients
For the bread:

1 thick slice of milk bread (shokupan)

Oil for deep frying
For the cream filling:

2 cups heavy whipping cream

½ cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1️⃣ Prep & Fry the Bread

Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

Take one thick slice of milk bread and gently pat off extra moisture if needed.

Carefully place the bread in the oil and fry until golden brown and crisp on the outside.

Let it drain on a cooling rack or paper towels.
2️⃣ Cut the Pocket

Once the bread cools slightly, slice it corner-to-corner (diagonal) to create two large triangles.

Take a smaller, sharp knife and carefully slice each triangle through the middle—but not all the way through—making a deep pocket for filling.

3️⃣ Make the Whipped Cream

In a chilled bowl, combine:

2 cups heavy cream

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Whisk with a hand mixer or stand mixer until you reach stiff peaks—thick, fluffy, and able to stand on the whisk.
4️⃣ Fill the Sandwich

Spoon or pipe the whipped cream generously inside the bread pocket.

Smooth the edges or add extra cream on top if you want that viral, overfilled look.
5️⃣ Serve
Enjoy immediately while the bread is warm and crispy and the cream is cold and fluffy.
Optional: dust with powdered sugar or add fruit like strawberries.
